Wisdom from my first 50 years; 50 thoughts.

In honor of this first half century of life, 50 bits of wisdom.  I hope this message finds you well and leaves you with a thought or two for your days.

Be well!

  1. Everyone is doing the best they can with what they have. 
  2. What's true for me doesn't have to be true for others. 
  3. When we heal, we heal generations before and after us.
  4. Worry is wasted time and energy.
  5. Stories have the power to transform and influence others. Everyone has a story.
  6. Never be too busy for what matters most.
  7. Look for meaning in the most unexpected places.
  8. Miracles are everywhere, you just have to open your eyes to see them.
  9. Animals have the power to expand love in all relationships.
  10.  Celebrate milestones and achievements big and small
  11.  Create traditions; small/simple traditions build memories.
  12.  Travel and travel more.
  13.  Make sleep a priority.
  14.  Turn off the news; do what you can from where you are.
  15.  Show others what it looks like through your own behaviors and actions.
  16.  Raise your kids on 80s music.
  17.  Get a therapist soon.
  18.  Surround yourself with people that lift you up.
  19.  Less phone more eyes on the world
  20. If it won’t matter when you are 90, let it go.
  21. Focus on what will matter when you are 90.
  22. Less doing, more being
  23. Focus on what you CAN control, YOU!
  24. Take a chance on things you can’t stop dreaming about.
  25. Use your imagination to create and see what you want.
  26. The answers to your prayers are all around you, start looking.
  27. What you see in others is also in you.  
  28. Engage your senses.  Use them to ground yourself in the moment.
  29. Be here now.  
  30. Question what you believe to be true about yourself and the world.
  31. Drink more water.
  32. Put your feet on the grass, face to the sun.
  33. At the end of each day, relive the moments you loved, ask for more of those.
  34. Talk less, listen more.
  35. Help yourself to a nap.  
  36. Let go of “shoulds”.
  37. Do something unplanned and unexpected for someone.  
  38. Appreciate your people.  Notice who makes your world work.
  39. If a feeling wants to be felt, give it space.  You will be ok.  Let it pass.
  40. This too shall pass.
  41. Give love freely, receive it with grace.
  42. Choose in favor of your well-being, others will be OK.
  43. If you’re alive, you have time.  Use it with intention.
  44. If you don’t try, you will never know what’s possible.
  45. It’s OK to let go of what’s not working.  
  46. You don’t have to believe everything you think.  You are not your thoughts.
  47. Your body knows the way, it has the answers.  Stop and listen.
  48. You are not responsible for fixing others or saving them.  Let go.
  49. To change is to see what’s possible on the other side of fear.
  50. Receive a breathe, it’s the gift of life.
